Research regarding the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) and the circular economy has gained traction since 2014. Paralleling the growth in the internet of things (IoT), the circular economy poses both risks and opportunities to various stakeholders in its development. This literature review aims to identify Industry 4.0 stakeholders' interests and expectations regarding how the IoT can be part of circular economy management. Contributions include identifying various IoT tools for dealing with circular economy challenges while also addressing implementation best practices. The transition of the circular economy within Industry 4.0 requires a better understanding of government, suppliers, international organizational interests, and expectations regarding the IoT. This study enables future research on circular economy practices and their potential sustainability benefits for manufacturing firms. This study's findings allow practitioners and researchers to understand the literature and critical elements of the transition toward a more circular economy.

Application of Optical Remote Sensing in Rubber Plantations: A Systematic Review

Rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) is a tropical tree crop cultivated for the industrial production of latex. The trees are tall, perennial and long-lived, and are typically grown in plantations. In most rubber-producing countries, smallholders account for more than 85% of plantation area. Traditional practices mean that it can be difficult to monitor rubber plantations for management purposes. To overcome issues associated with monitoring traditional practices, remote sensing approaches have been successfully applied in this field. However, information on this is lacking. Therefore, this study aims to document the current status, history, development and prospects for remote sensing applications in rubber plantations by using the PRISMA framework. The review focuses on the application of optical remote sensing data in rubber. In this paper, we discuss the current role of remote sensing on specific subject areas, namely mapping, change detection, stand age estimation, carbon and biomass assessment, leaf area index (LAI) prediction and disease detection. In addition, we elaborate on the benefits gained and challenges faced while adapting this technology. These include the availability and free access to satellite imagery as the greatest benefit and the presence of clouds as one of the toughest challenges. Finally, we highlighted four potential areas where future work can be done: (1) Advancements in remote sensing data, (2) algorithm enhancements, (3) emerging processing platforms, and (4) application to less studied subject areas. This paper gives insight into strengthening the potential of remote sensing for delivering efficient and long-term services for rubber plantations.

La seguridad alimentaria es un tema en discusión actual; su relación con el hambre, y con otros indicadores de desarrollo humano, ha hecho que su inclusión en la agenda mundial sea de alto interés. Los diferentes abordajes van desde la conceptualización, dimensionamiento, medición, hasta profundas reflexiones. A partir de la revisión sistemática y el análisis de la literatura científica, se identifican áreas emergentes en la temática. El objetivo de esta investigación es sustentar la importancia que tienen los diferentes enfoques para afrontar la seguridad alimentaria como aspecto clave para la sostenibilidad. Se concluye que el uso de cuestionarios para medir la percepción de seguridad/inseguridad alimentaria en el hogar toma vigencia en la actualidad; la escala FIES es muy utilizada por la validez y fiabilidad que ha mostrado en los estudios así como por su facíl de aplicación.
