An Agent-Based Approach to Virtual Power Plants of Wind Power Generators and Electric Vehicles

Abstract: Abstract-Wind power is gaining in significance as an important renewable source of clean energy. However, due to their inherent uncertainty, wind generators are often unable to participate in the forward electricity markets like the more predictable and controllable conventional generators. Given this, virtual power plants (VPPs) are being advocated as a solution for increasing the reliability of such intermittent renewable sources. In this paper, we take this idea further by considering VPPs as coalitions of … Show more

“…Dimeas and Hatziargyriou [11] present a case study application of a practical VPP. Finally, Vasirani et al [12] consider the use of VPPs to integrate renewable generations from wind with storage from electric vehicles. Unlike this work, however, they do not consider incentives for accurate reporting.…”

“…So, the VPP paradigm is not suited for a collaborative multi-actors configuration [15], where producers coalesce willingly to sell their production (without relying on any external entity), as it is their best interest to do so [7]. To overcome this limit, recent works proposed Cooperative VPP (CVPP) as a framework to aggregate small and distributed energy resources in the electricity supply network [16].…”
