Alveolar Wall Apoptosis Causes Lung Destruction and Emphysematous Changes

Abstract: Pulmonary emphysema is characterized by alveolar wall destruction and airspace enlargement. Recent evidence indicates that epithelial or endothelial apoptosis may be involved in the pathogenesis of emphysema.
