The root-lesion nematode Pratylenchus spp. causes a high-severity disease, promoting high economic losses in various crops of agricultural importance. The nematode control is difficult, especially after introduction into the area. Studies on the migration of this parasite in the soil are scarce. However, understanding nematode behavior in the soil is fundamental to increase the efficiency of management practices, especially in irrigated agriculture. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of water flow and plant stimulus on Pratylenchus coffeae mobility in segmented soil columns. The columns were segmented into 11 rings of 1 cm long filled with washed sand, one of the ends exposed to a bait, and submitted to flows of 0, 3, 7 cm3/min of water. Baits for nematode attraction and repelling consisted of sectioned tubers of yam (Dioscorea cayennensis) and cut leaves of neem (Azadirachta indica), respectively, and the absence of baits as the control. Nematodes were injected into the central segment of the column, and migration and presence in water leaching were determined five days after soil infestation. Mobility of P. coffeae varied with water flow and bait type. In the absence of water flow, nematodes migrated in the opposite direction to the neem baits, but migration was well distributed in the presence of yam baits, with specimens present in all column segments. The nematode had significantly higher resistance to water flow of 3 cm3/min in the presence of yam baits. No nematodes were found in the water leached at flows of 3 and 7 cm3/min in the absence of bait. Key words: Azadirachta indica. Dioscorea cayennensis. Lesion nematode. Soil dispersion.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a produtividade e qualidade tecnológica da canade-açúcar em duas safras agrícolas, cana-planta e cana-soca, sob a influência de diferentes fontes de adubação mineral e orgânica. O experimento foi conduzido nas safras agrícolas 2008/2009 e 2009/2010, no Engenho Vicente Campelo, pertencente à Usina Cucaú, em Rio Formoso/PE. O delineamento experimental adotado foi em blocos casualizados, com três blocos e quatorze tratamentos combinado ou não de ácidos húmicos, fúlvicos, enraizadores, adubação convencional e da torta de filtro. Como componentes de produção definiu-se a produtividade dos colmos (TCH) e a produtividade de açúcar por hectare (TAH) e, para avaliar a qualidade tecnológica, foi avaliado o teor aparente de sólidos solúveis presentes no caldo (ºBrix) da cana, a Pol% de cana (PC) e o açúcares total redutor (ATR). As substâncias utilizadas não proporcionaram modificações na qualidade tecnológica da cana-de-açúcar. A produtividade dos colmos foi superior nos tratamentos de adubação convencional + Rutter AA (AC+R) e adubação convencional + torta de filtro (AC+TF) em cana planta, enquanto que em cana soca, foram AC+R+Humitec+TR e AC+TF. Para os dois anos safra estudados, as parcelas submetidas a AC+TF obtiveram produtividade superior.

A B S T R A C TConsidering the relevant importance of guava (Psidium guajava) in Northeastern Brazil along with the benefits of neem cake amendments on soil characteristics, this work evaluated the effects of neem cake on chemical attributes of a Regosol under irrigated guava orchard in an alluvial valley of Pernambuco semi-arid region. Evaluations were carried out in two areas (area 1 -with neem cake; area 2 -without neem cake) at three periods: before the first application of neem cake, 90 days after the first application and 90 days after the second application. A regular 8 × 6-point grid was designed in each area and the soil was sampled for total organic carbon, pH, soluble salts (Na + , K + , Ca 2+ and Mg 2+ ) and total nitrogen contents, as well as soil C-CO 2 evolution rate in soil. Geostatistical analysis pointed out the spherical model as the best fit to the studied variables, followed by the Gaussian model, with ranges from 12 to 60.5 m. Neem cake incorporation increased spatial variability and the contents of the evaluated soil chemical attributes.Variabilidade espacial de atributos químicos em Neossolo no manejo da goiabeira com nim no semiárido R E S U M O Considerando a importância do cultivo de goiabeiras (Psidium guajava) para o nordeste do Brasil e os benefícios da aplicação da torta de nim nas características do solo, avaliou-se o efeito da aplicação de torta de nim nos atributos químicos de um Neossolo Regolítico cultivado com goiabeiras irrigadas no semiárido de Pernambuco. Para as avaliações foram usadas duas áreas (área 1 -com nim; área 2 -sem nim) e três períodos, antes da aplicação do nim, 90 dias após a primeira aplicação e 90 dias após a segunda aplicação; assim, 96 amostras de solo foram coletadas em duas malhas regulares de 8 × 6 pontos amostrais e realizadas análises do teor de carbono orgânico total, pH, teores de sais solúveis (Na + , K + , Ca 2+ e Mg 2+ ), nitrogênio total e taxa de evolução C-CO 2 do solo. O modelo esférico foi o que melhor se ajustou às variáveis estudadas seguido pelo gaussiano, com alcances que variaram de 12 a 60,5 m. A incorporação da torta de nim aumentou a variabilidade espacial e a oferta dos atributos de solo estudados.
