Allylic oxidation of cyclohexene over ruthenium-doped titanium-pillared clay

Abstract: ARTICLE This journal isRuthenium-doped H-Montmorillonite (H-Mont) and Ti-pillared clay (Ti-PILC) were prepared then studied for oxidation of cyclohexene, with tert-butylhydroperoxide (TBHP) as the oxygen source. The Ti-PILC support was prepared by hydrolysis of Ti(OC 3 H 7 ) 4 with HCl. The synthesized Ru/Ti-PILC and Ru/H-Mont catalysts were characterized by chemical analysis, surface area/pore volume measurements, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Xray powder diffraction (XRD), and UV-vis-diffus… Show more

“…When the reaction take place at C=C key, peroxide is generates. The oxidation of cylohexene has been the research topic of a large number of investigations because of the importance of the obtained prod-ucts, like the cyclohexene oxide, 2-cyclohexene-1-one [4,5] and 2-cyclohexene-1-ol [5][6][7][8]. The 2-cyclohexen-1-ol (enol) can be converted to phenol without co-products.…”

“…Raw clay and modified clay have recently received great advantage due to their potential applications in diverse areas of research. They have been extensively used in absorption , ceramic , cosmetic, pharmaceutical , and catalysis . Different clay‐based materials have been applied to photo‐catalysis and adsorption, including, mainly pillared clays, modified organo‐clays, and acid‐modified clays .…”

“…The allylic oxidation of an alkene is one of the simplest cases of C − H bond activation that this conversion is a challenge in the modern chemistry and industry processes . Especially, the allylic oxidation of the cyclohexene produces α, β unsaturated alcohol and ketone (2‐ cyclohexene‐1‐ol and 2‐cyclohexene‐1‐one), which these products are important in the fragrance and pharmaceutical industry . The classic process for oxidation reaction was done with inorganic or organic oxidants such as chromium (VI) reagents, permanganate, manganesedioxide and periodate .…”
