Abstract:Aliphatic carboxylic acids include a very wide range of chemicals that perform a diverse range of industrial functions. Many occur naturally and serve an important function in nutrition, and many are intermediates in normal biochemical processes. This chapter is limited to a discussion of the saturated aliphatic mono‐ and polycarboxylic acids. Because of the wide range of uses, the differing circumstances of isolation, and frequently the complexity of structure, many organic acids are described by a variety of… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
