Algorithm for designing a hydraulic scissor lifting platform

Abstract: The paper describes the hydraulic scissor platforms and presents an algorithm for their design and optimization. Depending on the dimensions of the platform, the maximum height at which it rises and the maximum load is presented a program for calculating the number of scissors and the forces in the joints. The obtained data allow to choose the type of hydraulic table (with one, two or three scissors) and sizing the elements according to the beneficiary's requirements.

“…Figure 7 shows the image of the upper table with eyebolts on the prototype. With the innovative eyebolt design, the movement of the platform from the upper table is ensured, thus providing ease of transportation, especially in installations under the working floor (lift shaft) and in maintenance processes [18]. Another innovation designed within the scope of the study is integrating a frequency inverter device into the system.…”

“…The height of the electrical equipment in the substation is usually 1 to 2 m. Considering that the examined electrical equipment is distributed in the different locations in the substation, the vertical lifting mechanism needs to provide a dynamic movement to the desired inspection position. Generally, the scissor-type mechanism is often used to produce the vertical lifting component, as shown in Figure 12(a) (Ciupan et al , 2019), where the lifting motion is accomplished by two hydraulic cylinders mounted between the scissors. However, the large volume and low accuracy cause the inextricable difficulty in the realistic applications.…”

“…To increase the stability of the lifting platform, Cornel et al added a hydraulic damping system to the bottom of the scissor structure to counteract the vibrations above the platform. At the same time, the hydraulics could give additional support to the lifting platform to meet the greater force requirements [3]. However, hydraulic struts are expensive and have a higher failure rate than traditional mechanical structures.…”
