Abstract: Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) is an intracellular pathogen that has evolved strategies to enable growth in macrophages. The bacterium is able to inhibit fusion of phagosomes with lysosomes through secretion of some bacterial components and modulation of host intracellular signaling pathways.
