“…These results corroborate another study carried out by our research group, in which 4-PSQ also reversed the mechanical and thermal hypersensitivities induced by chemotherapeutic OXA exposure. 21 By considering that OXA and STZ can cause neuropathy through oxidative stress, 63,64 4-PSQ has proven to be highly promising in modulating this mechanism, regardless of the experimental model. In fact, our research group has dedicated special attention to studying and identifying new agents capable of reducing and treating the symptoms of pathologies involving oxidative stress.…”

“…The dose and protocol of 4-PSQ treatment were based on previous research. 12,26 Since other pre-clinical studies evaluating the pharmacological actions of the 4-PSQ have been carried out, 13,14,[16][17][18][19][20][21]26,27 a dose-response curve was not performed to minimize the number of animals used.…”

“…Nanotechnology is not only inspired by virology to develop novel therapeutics and vaccines, but also at the forefront in combatting dangerous viruses ( Reis et al., 2020 ; Hu et al., 2021 ; An et al., 2021 ; Lee et al., 2022 ). However, up to date, there is still a long way to go to develop B19V-tailored nanosystems.…”

“…Besides, 7-chloro-4-(phenylselanyl) quinoline (4-PSQ) with antinociceptive, antioxidant, and neuroprotective effects has also been studied. As reported, 4-PSQ (1 mg/kg, p.o., days 2–14) not only reversed the increased levels of ROS in the spinal cord, cerebral cortex, and hippocampus, but also normalized the activity and expression of antioxidant enzymes [e.g., CAT, SOD, and glutathione peroxidase (GPx)] and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in OXA-exposed mice ( Reis et al, 2020 ). In addition, donepezil (1 mg/kg, p.o., five times per week for 4 weeks) could ameliorate OXA-induced mechanical allodynia and sciatic nerve axonal degeneration in a rat model, whose neuroprotective effect was attributed to its free-radical scavenging ability ( Kawashiri et al, 2019 ).…”
