Este artigo relata a aplicação de técnicas de varredura digital 3D e Modelagem da Informação da Construção (BIM) para a preservação do patrimônio histórico. Na última década difundiu-se uma nova perspectiva de aplicação da tecnologia BIM para a documentação e gestão do patrimônio histórico, o denominado HBIM, que apesar da relevância para a interpretação e caracterização do estado de conservação do objeto histórico, ainda não alcançou o mesmo impacto que a modelagem inteligente aplicada a edificações novas. O artigo foca na criação de um modelo digital inteligente para uma obra singular da arquitetura moderna brasileira, a Igreja de São Francisco de Assis, na lagoa da Pampulha, a partir da utilização de duas técnicas de varredura digital. O modelo de nuvem de pontos obtido por dois sistemas de varredura (fotogrametria aérea e escaneamento a laser) fornece uma descrição detalhada da complexidade e irregularidade geométrica do edifício e é a base do modelo paramétrico preciso criado com ferramentas BIM. Neste artigo são abordados o manuseio de dois programas de processamento de dados, gerados pelos sensores, e os processos de manipulação da nuvem de pontos para otimizar a modelagem das formas complexas da igreja. São comparados o aspecto visual, os formatos de importação e exportação e o índice de sobreposição das nuvens de pontos. Este estudo demonstrou o potencial do levantamento digital, incluindo sensores de baixo custo, e o HBIM para a documentação e valorização do patrimônio construído.

The impressive success of Structure-from-Motion Photogrammetry (SfM) has spread out the application of image-based 3D reconstruction to a larger community. In the field of Archeological Heritage documentation, this has opened the possibility of training local people to accomplish photogrammetric data acquisition in those remote regions where the organization of 3D surveying missions from outside may be difficult, costly or even impossible. On one side, SfM along with low-cost cameras makes this solution viable. On the other, the achievement of high-quality photogrammetric outputs requires a correct image acquisition stage, being this the only stage that necessarily has to be accomplished locally. This paper starts from the analysis of the well-know "3x3 Rules" proposed in 1994 when photogrammetry with amateur camera was the state-of-the art approach and revises those guidelines to adapt to SfM. Three aspects of data acquisition are considered: geometry (control information, photogrammetric network), imaging (camera/lens selection and setup, illumination), and organization. These guidelines are compared to a real case study focused on Ziggurat Chogha Zanbil (Iran), where four blocks from ground stations and drone were collected with the purpose of 3D modelling.

ABSTRACT:3D high resolution models can be produced both using range-based and image-based techniques. In this work, we evaluate the performance of the Photoscan commercial software in a challenging project: the digitization of an earthenware frieze of about 36 m in length. In order to choose the most effective technique and to define the best workflow for on-the-field data acquisition and the subsequent data elaboration, some tests were performed on a portion of the frieze. We discuss the results and compare the models resulting from different workflows with a reference data set taken from the scan data. RESEARCH AIMIn this work we intend to evaluate the performances of rangeand image-based systems in order to produce highly detailed 3D models for use by restorers and other heritage experts to map their diagnostic analysis and record their interventions on them (Tucci et al. 2015) and make a 3D print for a permanent exhibition. The artefact for digitization is a frieze; its dimensions suggest that it be considered an architectural survey, but closer evaluation highlights that this project requires a greater level of detail. Before starting the (still ongoing) digitization process, we made some tests on a portion of the frieze in order to choose the most effective technique, and to plan the best further workflow for data acquisition and elaboration. We present some data evaluation results, relating both to laser scanner and photogrammetric surveys. Considering the aim of the project, our main focus was not on accuracy (even though we present some considerations in 6.1) but we preferred to analyse more qualitative aspects.
