Adsorption performances and electrochemical characteristics of methyl blue onto magnesium-zinc ferrites

Abstract: A novel and facile rapid combustion approach was developed for the controllable preparation of small size and easy recovery magnesium-zinc ferrites for methyl blue (MB) removal in dye solution. The effects of prepared criteria of x value, calcination temperature, and the amount of ethanol on the average grain sizes and magnetic property were reviewed. The characterization results displayed that Mg0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 nanoparticles met the expectations of the experiment at the calcination temperature of 400℃ with abso… Show more

“…After the adsorption experiments were concluded, the centrifuge tubes were removed at specific intervals, and the Cu 0.5 Co 0.5 Fe 2 O 4 nanoparticles were separated from the solutions using an external magnetic field. Adsorption equilibrium experiments were carried out in the same way, and the centrifuge tubes were shaken at room temperature for 24 h. A UV spectrophotometer (UV2550) was employed to measure the residual concentration of the CR solution, and the adsorption capacity and equilibrium were calculated according to the following equation (1) [17][18][19]:…”

“…Consequently, several recent research initiatives have focused on the production of zinc ferrite. Several methods have been used for the synthesis of zinc ferrite, including hydrothermal [30] and solvothermal processes [31], sol-gel [32], co-precipitation [33] and combustion synthesis [34]. Due to its simple, quick synthesis reaction and inexpensive raw material, the combustion synthesis procedure was selected among the others for the production of zinc ferrite.…”

“…The rapid development of human society has improved people's material and cultural life, which has led to increasing environmental pollution, especially water pollution [1,2]. Among different pollution sources, dye wastewater pollution has attracted extensive attention in dye applications in the textile industry [3].…”
