Acute static stretching with different volumes improves hamstring flexibility but not reactive strength index and leg stiffness in well-trained judo athletes

Abstract: Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of different volumes of static stretching exercises (SS) on the reactive strength index (RSI), leg stiffness (Kleg), and hamstring flexibility in well-trained judo athletes. Method: In total, 17 international level judo athletes (11 women and 6 men; age, 20.47 ± 1.59 years; experience in judo, 11.35 ± 1.84 years) were recruited for this study. The athletes completed three different SS sessions named low (LV-SS: 3.5 min), moderate (MV-SS: 7 min), and hig… Show more

“…MS characteristics of lower limb has been shown to affect the performance in several athletic tasks that are dominant in many sports like jump, running, and change of direction (Brazier et al, 2019). However, there is a consensus about an extreme increase or decrease in this stiffness level could affect sportive performance negatively and cause sports injuries (Koulouris et al, 2003;Kurtdere et al, 2021).…”

“…4c). In nine trials (3.0%) [81,82,142,151,180,224,340,359,360], different durations were compared (e.g., 5 s for the five-set group versus 30 s for the single-set group [359,360] or 35 s for the low-volume group versus 65 s for the highvolume group [142]). This was obviously extended to the trials comparing continuous versus intermittent stretching [103,114,147,149].…”

“…Stretching statis juga meningkatkan kelenturan pada hamstring pada atlet judo (Kurtdere et al, 2021). stretching statis selama 30 detik selama 3 kali seminggu dengan 10 kali pertemuan membuktikan bahwa, tidak diperlukan pada otot lutut yang mengalami sakit kaitan dengan kelenturan (Melo et al, 2021).…”
