Acute Serous Encephalitis

Abstract: In the summer of 1923, one of us (Brown), working at the Children's Hospital in Boston, observed six cases of a rapidly fatal disease in children, attended by symptoms referable to the central nervous system. In five of the cases necropsy was performed and revealed intense edema and congestion of the brain. In the summer of 1924. Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD.
