Accuracy of the pneumatic follower for the wooden surface quality assessment

Abstract: Wooden or wood-plastic composite surfaces are often valued for their aesthetic appearance and the quality of the surface. Independent from the technology, the surface features may be assessed using typical roughness parameters. In this paper, a pneumatic non-contact method is proposed. Despite certain limitations in surface characteristics measurement, air gauges proved to be a good tool for wooden surfaces, much cheaper than the laser profilometers. In the current research, a novel non-contact air gauge was c… Show more

“…e study in [12] considered target following control methods for targets in the case of constant acceleration and variable acceleration rotation. In [13], a motion target detection and tracking system were constructed using an industrial camera with adaptive appearance model and vision algorithms, and a Kalman prediction-based tracker is used to achieve target tracking. e study in [14] proposed a vision-based SLAM Complexity method PTAM to estimate UAV attitude, using multiview geometric constraints to detect moving objects in UAV images, making full use of the unrestricted and continuous attitude changes of UAVs, and detecting dynamic objects by extracting feature points, which was tested using a quadrotor UAV platform and successfully detected targets for emotionally unstable small UAVs.…”

“…However, their application in the measurement of cylindrical parts waviness parameter is still limited [ 81 ]. There are some reports, though, demonstrating that in some conditions waviness of the profile Wt can be measured relatively accurately, with relative error of 5% [ 82 ]. Jakubowicz [ 83 ] proposed and investigated a roundness measuring air gauge with slot-shaped measuring nozzle.…”

“…Then the data is compared with the object's actual size to find the accurate distance between the camera and the object [11][12][13]. Moreover, the estimated distance data determines the force to launch a bullet to hit the target precisely [14].…”
