Adhering to large-scale agricultural operations is one of the basic ways to develop green agriculture, and it is also an inevitable choice for the development of modern agriculture in the country. Among them, as a major agricultural production province in China, the development of family farms in Heilongjiang Province has a significant impact on green agriculture. Based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB), this study takes the 222-demonstration bases of family farms evaluated in Heilongjiang Province in 2019 as samples and constructs a structural equation model (SEM) to discuss the influence of participation in the family farms in green agricultural production financing behavior in-depth based on directional design, distribution, recycling, and sorting out questionnaires. The research found that the financing willingness of the farmers is determined by the attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavior system of the family farm manager, and the financing willingness of the farmers and perceived behavioral control are determined by the financing behavior of the farmers. Among them, attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control have a significant positive impact on financing intention and have a further effect on financing behavior. Financing willingness and perceived behavioral control have a direct effect on financial behavior and have a significant positive effect on it. This article aims to improve and enhance the financing environment for family farms to participate in green agriculture, to increase the enthusiasm of the new agricultural operators to participate in green agriculture.

The presented data informs about a comprehensive online survey on the perception and acceptance of farm sustainability standards amongst German farmers. We conducted the online interviews, with a total of 598 adequately answered questionnaires in summer 2017. The resulting sample is representative of German farmers, as the distribution of participants corresponds very well to the percentage distribution of farms in Germany. The survey contained a discrete choice experiment (DCE), a structured survey of 30 sub-aspects of rewards to be expected from the application of a sustainability standard and a risk elicitation lottery choice-task. Besides, the personal characteristics of the farmers (e.g. gender, education, communication behaviour, age) and farm characteristics (e.g. farm type, size, labour, profit) were recorded. Since the complete raw dataset cannot be published due to the privacy rights of human subjects and the stated data use agreement (DUA) with the participants, the present article demonstrates the data collection process, describes the parameter of the DCE and, present summary statistics of the sample. In addition, we illustrate the variables coding and data structure using a model data set with 10 generated entries. Further, a reduced and edited exercise dataset, which is structured analogous to the real dataset, is used to demonstrate the analysis of the DCE data step-by-step. The results and the interpretation of the actual DCE data analysis are published in the article 'Acceptance of sustainability standards among farmers' - empirical evidence from Germany' [1]. The survey data can provide further insights on farmers' expected rewards from participating in a sustainability standard, on the role of risk perception and tolerance of German farmers, and the role of communication behaviour in the innovation adoption context.

BACKGROUNDWhile pesticides are essential for crop protection and food security, they pose serious risks to human health and the environment. Agro‐input dealers can play an important role in mitigating pesticide risks, given that they are a major source of pesticides and plant health information for many developing‐country farmers. In this article, we assess the willingness of agro‐input dealers to offer integrated pest management‐based advisory services and promote pesticide risk reduction through a voluntary certification scheme.RESULTSUsing survey data from 557 agro‐input dealers in Uganda and a discrete choice experiment, we find that the proposed certification scheme is significantly valued by agro‐input dealers, particularly for its potential to provide training opportunities and ensure safety to human health and the environment. Agro‐input dealers have a positive attitude towards a certification scheme that restricts the sale of high‐risk pesticide products, especially if it stimulates additional income‐generating opportunities. Further analysis shows that preferences for voluntary certification attributes are influenced by certification experience, agro‐dealership experience, business ownership status and incidence of acute pesticide poisoning.CONCLUSIONThe study findings demonstrate that agro‐input dealers are conscious of pesticide risks to human and environmental health and are keen to participate in a certification scheme promoting safer plant protection products. © 2024 The Author(s).
