Abstract: The cardioprotective effects of statins are well known yet the mechanism is unclear. Previously we showed that autophagy is required for cardioprotection from ischemia/reperfusion injury. More recently, we reported that ischemic preconditioning involves Parkin-mediated mitophagy.
