Abstract: Galectins decode glycan-containing information in a number of cell receptors adjusting signaling thresholds and modulating cellular functions. Upon specific binding to cell surface glycans these lectins control receptor clustering, endocytosis and signaling, influencing many physiological and pathological conditions.
