Abstract: Festivals benefit the local service economy and reinforce social cohesion within the local community. This study draws on transformative service research to argue that festivalscapes have a transformational impact on local residents' cocreation behavior and thus their subjective well-being. “…Other important results from the model included three of four festivalscape factors (food/ beverage quality, festival staff, facility) influencing satisfaction. This confirms prior research that indicate a significant relationship between festivalscape and satisfaction (Bruwer and Kelley, 2015;Chou et al, 2018;Yoo et al, 2020). Festivalscape elements can include components such as food quality, service and facilities, each contributing to tourists' value perception (Yang et al, 2011).…”

“…Many variations of the servicescape exist, especially in the hospitality industry. For example, there are festivalscapes (Chou et al, 2018;Johnson, 2015;Mason and Paggiaro, 2012;Yang et al, 2011), shipscapes (Kwortnik, 2008), sportscapes (Hill and Green, 2012;Lambrecht et al, 2009) and winescapes (Bruwer and Lesschaeve, 2012;Quintal et al, 2015;Thomas et al, 2010). While many studies use the servicescape as a basis for their own scapes, they typically include additional variables in conjunction with the physical, man-made items suggested by Bitner (1992).…”

“…It has been widely documented within event studies literature that planned events hold the potential to unlock a wide variety of social and cultural benefits for attendees and local communities such as socialization, family togetherness, and community well-being (Azara, Wiltshier, & Greatorex, 2018;Chang & Yuan, 2011;Chou, Huang, & Mair, 2018;Uysal & Li, 2008). Much of the research suggests that the social aspects of an event experience remain the most important motivation for many attendees (Dodd, Yuan, Adams, & Kolysnikova, 2006;Nicholson & Pearce, 2001).…”
