In this paper, the intelligent English electronic dictionary system is studied to design and implement the electronic dictionary system according to the advantages of the Internet of Things. The software architecture, the design, and implementation of the client and server-side and related technologies in the development process of the dictionary application are used as the research content to comprehensively discuss the development process of the electronic dictionary. The client and server-side is based on C/S technology architecture, and the server-side is a standard Maven Web project, which is managed by Maven and does not cause conflicts; the model-view-controller framework is built using Spring MVC to achieve the separation of user interface and application logic. Spring MVC is used to build a model-view-controller framework to separate user interface and application logic. Spring dependency injection is used to build a loosely coupled project, which helps to separate project components; Spring Data JPA is used to build a persistence layer to facilitate data access and maximize the developer’s ability to automatically realize logical operations on data. After the overall performance test of the system, the performance is good under the platform, and the intelligence of trilingual word query is achieved, and the quickness and ease of use meet the requirements that can be applied.

Emergence of IoT as one of the key data contributors in a big data application has presented new data quality challenges and has necessitated for an IoT inclusive data validation ecosystem. Standardized data quality approaches and frameworks are available for data obtained for a variety of sources like data warehouses, webblogs, social media, etc. in a big data application. Since IoT data differs significantly from other data, challenges in ensuring the quality of this data are also different and thus a specially designed IoT data testing layer paves its way in. In this paper, we present a detailed review of existing data quality assurance practices used in big data applications. We highlight the requirement for IoT data quality assurance in the existing framework and propose an additional data testing layer for IoT. The data quality aspects and possible implementation models for quality assurance contained in the proposed layer can be used to construct a concrete set of guidelines for IoT data quality assurance.

The emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) allows the integration of everyday devices such as tags, sensors, and actuators into the Internet. IoT also provides handy and automatic techniques to interoperate ad‐hoc, heterogeneous, and mobile networks and simplify data sharing among devices by abstracting their capabilities as services. Nevertheless, the large number and heterogeneity of encompassed networks/devices and the diversity of the offered resources/services make the IoT service description, discovery, selection, and composition a challenging task. To deal with these issues, we introduce, in this article, a semantic middleware for IoT applications based on service composition. Such a solution supports the semantic description of IoT resources, including services and user requests, and provides a modular, end‐to‐end, and loosely coupled request resolution process that comprises a context‐aware service discovery, a semantic service selection, and an automatic lightweight service composition. The proposal is illustrated and extensively evaluated on a restricted smart‐city scenario. Obtained results show that the proposed service discovery, selection, and composition sub‐processes improve the scalability of equivalent state‐of‐the‐art solutions by around 15%$$ \% $$, 20%$$ \% $$, and 40%$$ \% $$, respectively.
