A Survey on 5G and LPWAN-IoT for Improved Smart Cities and Remote Area Applications: From the Aspect of Architecture and Security

Abstract: Addressing the recent trend of the massive demand for resources and ubiquitous use for all citizens has led to the conceptualization of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart cities. Ubiquitous IoT connectivity can be achieved to serve both urban and underserved remote areas such as rural communities by deploying 5G mobile networks with Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN). The current architectures will not offer flexible connectivity to many IoT applications due to high service demand, da… Show more

“…In this article, we discuss how software-defined networks (SDNs) and network function virtualization (NFVs) can be Yanfang Zhang used to "slice" virtual networks in order to meet varying service requirements and user expectations for QoE. We also discuss an approach that considers the integration of 5G and Weightless-N (TVWS) technologies intending to decrease interference at the cell's periphery [21]. The importance of ubiquitous connectivity, enabled by technologies like 5G and LPWAN-IoT, is discussed.…”

“…The above Equation ( 20) is squashing function to the scalar vector between zero and unit length and also the vector direction is not change and ULt j is the input vector of the j th capsule in CapsNet and the norm of the vector ULt j is the length of the module. Suppose ULt j is short is represented in Equation (21).…”

“…The software is currently directed towards specialized and centralized cloud applications. IoT [ 13 ] automation platforms are noncoding programming languagse that provides some APIs which can be automatically called or accessed. IoT platforms are a trigger-action programming method that facilitate the integration of many devices using a fascinating user interface and are capable of making some types of decisions.…”

“…As more IoT use cases are adopted, it is anticipated that the digital transformation of enterprises will accelerate. It is essential to combine the efforts of IoT and 5G technology in order to fully realize the potential of IoT and move toward the goal of pervasive data connectivity [ 1 , 2 ]. The circularly polarized (CP) antennas can suppress the multipath effects and have great flexibility in the orientation of the transmitting and receiving antennas [ 3 ].…”
