A survey of the alpha-nucleon interaction

Abstract: This paper gives a survey of the alpha-nucleon interaction and then describes experimental work on angular distributions of differential scattering cross sections and polarizations in proton-alpha and neutron-alpha scattering. The phenomenological approach, which includes the study of both local and nonlocal potentials reproducing the experimental alpha-nucleon scattering data, is discussed. Basic studies of the alphanucleon interaction attempting to build an interaction between an alpha particle and a nucleon… Show more

“…The chosen range parameter for all the components of the α n potential is b αn 2 3 fm [64]. Both the n n and α n potentials fit the scattering and phase shift data well [65]. To simulate antisymmetrization under exchange of the valence nucleon and the core nucleon a repulsive component in the l 0 channel has been included in the α n potential.…”

“…Comprehensive data of phase shift analysis of the p − α scattering has been presented by Ali, Ahmad and Ferdous in [21]. Because of the spin-orbit coupling both spin-up δ + l and spin-down δ − l phase shifts contribute to the scattering amplitude at each partial wave.…”

“…The Gamma function was calculated by a Lanczos series approximation. The η parameter appearing in the above formulae is the Sommerfeld parameter given with the quantities discussed earlier as ) and PCT (c,d) methods at various E lab proton energies below and above the inelastic threshold using the experimental phase shifts of [21].…”
