A Review of Optimization Algorithms in Solving Hydro Generation Scheduling Problems

Abstract: The optimal generation scheduling (OGS) of hydropower units holds an important position in electric power systems, which is significantly investigated as a research issue. Hydropower has a slight social and ecological effect when compared with other types of sustainable power source. The target of long-, mid-, and short-term hydro scheduling (LMSTHS) problems is to optimize the power generation schedule of the accessible hydropower units, which generate maximum energy by utilizing the available potential durin… Show more

“…By definition, laptop fault is when a laptop is not working as intended, which could either caused by a hardware or software failure. Typically, the user found out about a laptop fault when they notice the laptop is not operable or it is not functioning as intended [6], [9]. Laptop fault can be categorized into two categories, which are hardware failure or software failure.…”

“…There are two parts to an IF-THEN rule, the first part, IF, is used to represent the condition, or also known as the antecedent [8]. The second part, THEN, is used to represent the consequent of an event, which is also known as consequent [9].…”

“…The hydro system is more or less clean, produces no waste, with very low emissions. The amount of electricity production can be easily increased or reduced quickly, which can meet high peak demand [72,73]. The HPG can be expressed as three types that convert moving water (mechanical energy) to electrical power, and these three types are given below.…”

“…Therefore, DR can be described as changes in the use of electricity by demand-side sources from their normal types of response consumption, and changes in electricity costs or incentives to reduce electricity consumption during periods with high wholesale prices [8][9][10]. To efficiently schedule home devices, many heuristic optimization techniques have been exploited to automatically create an optimal schedule of household appliances for adjusting power usage during high demand periods [11][12][13][14][15]. Optimization is a method of finding the best solutions to problems after selecting the objective function that is subjected to constraints.…”
