“…The extraction of chlorophylls and carotenoids from lyophilized leaves was conducted using pure acetone (100% v / v , HPLC grade) according to the method outlined by García-Plazaola and Becerril [ 47 ]. The analysis was performed via high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) on an Agilent Technologies 1200 series system, employing a Waters Spherisorb C-18 column (5.0 µm ODS1, 4.6 × 250 mm).…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Finally, by high‐performance liquid chromatography method, the content of zeaxanthin, lutein and β‐carotene was ascertained according to the method of García‐Plazaola and Becerril (1999) with few modifications. The instrument was an Agilent (California, USA) HPLC system, composed of a solvent degasser (1100 series), quaternary pump (1100 series), thermostated column compartment (1100 series), autosampler (1260 series) and diode array detector (DAD, 1200 series).…”

“…Pigments were analysed using a reverse‐phase Waters (Milford, MA, USA) high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) system following the method of García‐Plazaola and Becerril (1999) with the modifications described in García‐Plazaola and Becerril (2001) using 15 μL of sample extract. A photodiode array (PDA) detector (Waters model 996) was used to identify and quantify photosynthetic pigments (violaxanthin, antheraxanthin, zeaxanthin, lutein, lutein epoxidate, chlorophyll a and b, and α‐ and β‐carotene) in the range 250–700 nm.…”
