A polydopamine-based molecularly imprinted polymer on nanoparticles of type SiO2@rGO@Ag for the detection of λ-cyhalothrin via SERS

Abstract: A new method is described for the determination of the pesticide λ-cyhalothrin (LC). It combines SERS detection with molecular imprinting and largely improves selectivity. A multilayer surface imprinted nanocomposite was synthesized in two steps on a nanostructure of type SiO@rGO@Ag acting as a substrates. Firstly, the surface of the SiO@rGO@Ag composite was modified with self-polymerized dopamine. Secondly, surface-initiated polymerization was carried out to prepare a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) using… Show more

“…Compared with conventional detection methods, SERS possessed the characteristics of high sensitivity, no destructive, and time‐saving . In theory, the SERS enhancement models incorporate the electromagnetic field enhancement mechanism (EM) and the charge transfer EM . The two mechanisms exist at the same time, but their proportions vary in diverse systems.…”

“…The overall survey ( Figure 4 e) showed the presence of C, O, Ag, and Si in the rGO-Ag@SiO 2 nanocomposite. In the expanded C 1S spectrum ( Figure 4 a), the deconvoluted peaks were at 284.4, 286.8, and 288.9 eV, attributed to the C–C, C–O, and C=O spectra, respectively [ 28 ]. The expanded O 1s spectrum ( Figure 4 b) showed deconvoluted peaks corresponding to the C–O, Si–O, and C=O spectra at 534.3, 532.5, and 530.8 eV, respectively [ 29 , 30 ].…”

“…For instance, Emily et al [170] has established that Ag@SiO 2 can be functionalized with MIPs to selectively rebind and successfully detect carbendazim with a limit of detection of 10 −9 M based on SERS. In another recent research, Li et al [171] developed SiO 2 @rGO@Ag-MIP as SERS substrate to detect λ-cyhalothrin, an organic insecticide, which had a limit of detection of 3.8 × 10 −10 M for cyhalothrin and showed efficacy towards tests in the practical water sample. Another crucial strategy in promoting selectivity and affinity is to integrate SERS and aptamer techniques, which is worth exploring and applying.…”
