A Platform for e-Health Control and Location Services for Wandering Patients

Abstract: Wandering patients frequently have diseases that demand continuous health control, such as taking pills at specific times, constant blood pressure and heart rate monitoring, temperature and stress level checkups, and so on. ese could be jeopardized by their wandering behavior. Mobile applications that focus on health care have received special interest from medical specialists. ese applications have been widely accepted, due to the availability of smart devices that include sensors. However, sensor-based appli… Show more

“…However, moving forward indoor environments GPS has showed a weakness in estimation, due to many reasons related with these environments such as its complexity and the presence of different walls, objects and obstacles [5]. As a result, it is very important to perform indoor localization at a lower cost and higher accuracy [6].…”

“…The proliferation of wireless devices has enabled location-based services (LBS) that eased our everyday life in many aspects, e.g., navigation, healthcare, entertainment [1][2][3][4]. For instance, accurate locations can be provided by the Global Positioning System (GPS) using smart phones; however, the performance of the GPS is substantially degraded in indoor environments [5].…”

“…With the popularity of mobile devices, such as smartphones, smartwatches, tablets, as well as some wearable devices, wireless localization has spawned numerous location-based services (LBS) to facilitate our daily life in the fields of emergency services, navigation, healthcare, geofence, social networking, entertainment/gaming, asset tracking, etc. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 ]. For example, smartphone users can easily plan their trips using Google Maps and order a nearby taxi.…”
