A Novel 4-(1H-Benzimidazol-2-yl)-2-methoxy-phenol Derived Fluorescent Sensor for Determination of CN– Ion

Abstract: A novel fluorescent sensor 4-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-2-methoxy-phenol derivative was synthesized. Solution of 4-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-2-methoxy-phenol (1 × 10 -7 M) in DMSO displays highly sensitives and rapid respons to CN -ion [values of LOD = 1.8 × 10 -6 M and Ka = 2.5 (± 0.26) × 10 6 M -1 ]. Sensor 4-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-2-methoxy-phenol coordinated with CN -ion form with a 1:1 binding stoichiometry.

“…Figure 6, the interaction of the S8-Fˉ complex in fluorescent titration reaches its maximum intensity when fractionation is 0,25. The fractionimol 0.25 indicates that the host-guest interaction occurs when the S8/Fˉ stoichiometric ratio has a ratio of 1:2 [8][9][10][11][12][13].…”

“…In the previous study, we designed a chemosensor compound derived from benzimidazole (S1) [5] and benzoxazole (S3) [6], which are active as a receptor to detect a cyanide anion. The S 1 is a simpler sensor with an imidazole ring containing nitrogen heteroatom, which could detect cyanide anions with the value of k bind is 2.5 (±0.26) x 10 6 M -1…”

“…Previoulsy, we synthesized a chemosensor compound derived from benzimidazole (S1) [2] and benzoxazole (S3) derivatives from vanillin [3]. We attached a nitro group into the ring of S1 and S2 compounds at position 5 to obtain chemosensor compounds S2 and S4 (figure 1), which gives a more potent (in the form of color change and fluorescent) signal [4,5].…”
