“…This form of famulus has been reported in species of Crossacarapis (Ochoa and OConnor 1996), Flechtmannus (Moraes Lindquist and Lofego 2002), and Pseudacarapis trispicula Ochoa and Pettis . Three of these species are associated with bees, but adult females of Flechtmannus homalinotus Moraes, Lindquist and Lofego are found under the elytra of the curculionid beetle Homalinotus coriaceus (Gyllenhal).…”

“…One important group is the family Tarsonemidae (Lindquist, 1986;Lin and Zhang, 2002), several species of which are known to be associated with bees (De Jong et al, 1982;Eickwort, 1988Eickwort, , 1994Ochoa and OConnor, 1996). The most economically important beeassociated tarsonemids are in the genus Acarapis, since all species are parasitic on honey bees, Apis mellifera L. Commensal associations include species such as Tarsonemus apis Rennie, 1921, on Apis spp.…”

Recently males and immatures of P. indoapis were recorded from 14 localities of Kerala and southern parts of Tamil Nadu, India in A, cerana hives (Sumangala, 1999).…”
