A New Crophius Stål (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Oxycarenidae) from Mexico and Arizona, USA and Designation of a Lectotype for Oxycarenus scabrosus (Uhler)

Abstract

The North American family Oxycarenidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Lygaeoidea) includes only 15 native species in the genera Crophius Stål ( 7), Dycoderus Uhler (1), Mayana Distant (3), Neaplax Slater (2), and Neocrophius Henry and Dellapé (2) (Henry et al. 2015, Scudder 2016, Dellapé and Henry 2022) and three adventive Old World species. Metopoplax ditomoides (Costa) and Microplax albofasciata (Costa) are established in the Pacific Northwest from California to British Columbia (Wheeler and Hoebeke 2013, Wheeler and Henry 2015) and Oxycarenus hyalinipennis (Costa), first introduced into South America in the early 1900s, is now found
