A new colorimetric aptasensor for paraquat detection based on the designed aptamer with multiple paraquat binding sites in combination with gold nanoparticles

Pakawat Kongpreecha,
Sineenat Siri

Abstract: Given paraquat's environmental health risks, there is a need for a fast and simple detection method. This study presents a novel colorimetric aptasensor with a tailored aptamer, boosting sensitivity by targeting multiple paraquat binding sites.

“…The former probe fabrication method is straightforward and commonly used in most salt-induced AuNP aggregation-based colorimetric aptasensors. 23–28 However, physical adsorption is relatively feeble, rendering the probe's stability highly vulnerable to the matrix environment in complex samples like food, potentially jeopardizing detection accuracy and reproducibility. Alternatively, the second strategy offers improved stability and resistance to interference, promising robust and reliable biosensing applications.…”
