Abstract: A modification of the inert gas stripping method for measuring the limiting activity coefficient is proposed. Compared to the procedure used so far, the modification consists of a change in the apparatus arrangement and measurement of the decrease in solute concentration in the liquid phase only. The method has been tested by measuring the limiting activity coefficients of heptane in N-methylpyrrolidone at 25, 50 and 55 °C. The results are in good agreement with published values determined by various methods.
