Ecosystem service (ES) is a growing field of research characterized by an increase in publication number. The review was conducted to provide an overview of trends of forest ecosystem services (FES) research and methodological approach to studied FES. Currently, the number of publications on ES was more than 18,000, but small publications were linked with FES. Based on the selection criteria, 41 peer-reviewed publications were screened to analyze the type of FES studied and the method used to quantify ES. The result showed that most of the research articles, to date, had focused largely on provisioning, regulating and cultural ecosystem services, which were timber production, water supply, carbon sequestration, and recreation. FES like a pollination, genetic resources, pest regulation, and aesthetic values have not been studied in any literature reviews. The review result showed that different studies used diverse methodological approaches and had inconsistent and scattered conclusions. From the selected studies, the majority of them were conducted in Europe and Asia. Particularly, the publication number from Ethiopia was very low and needs to conduct studies before the forest resources are further degraded. which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided you give appropriate credit to the original author(s) and the source, provide a link to the Creative Commons license, and indicate if changes were made.

Given a large number of economic activities around Lake Maninjau , it is considered to have water resource potential. The many floating net cages around Lake Maninjau are able to revive the economy in the surrounding community. At this time, Lake Maninjau is not only used for fish cultivation, but also as a tourist attraction. This study aims to determine the potential development of fish culture by using Benefit Cost Ratio analysis. This research is located in Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency which is rich in water resources. Judging from the result of Benefit Cost Ratio of 1.82, it means that the fish farming business in Lake Maninjau is profitable with a profit of 1.82 greater than the costs incurred by fish farmers. Nas últimas décadas muito tem sido discutido sobre os serviços ecossistêmicos, dada a sua importância para a sociedade. Métodos para avaliação dos serviços ecossistêmicos começaram a surgir, porém aqueles de caráter econômico são influenciados pelo contexto sociocultural. O presente estudo empregou um método não monetário adaptado da literatura para a avaliação das demandas e provisões associadas aos serviços ecossistêmicos (provisão, regulação, suporte e cultural) prestados pelas áreas úmidas do município de Sorocaba-SP. Através de entrevistas realizadas com os gestores ambientais e doutores na área residentes no município, foi elaborada uma matriz. Os resultados mostraram que algumas tipologias de serviços ecossistêmicos possuem um balanço neutro entre a oferta e demanda, ao passo que outras possuem um balanço negativo. Conclui-se que o método empregado é útil para a avaliação dos serviços ecossistêmicos, assim como os ecossistemas de áreas úmidas do município de Sorocaba possuem uma boa capacidade de proteção, entretanto medidas gerenciais ainda são necessárias para a preservação de sua integridade. Non-monetary method for the ecosystem services assessment provided by wetlands in urban areas A B S T R A C T In the last decades, much has been discussed about ecosystem services, given its importance to the society. Methods for its evaluation began to emerge, but the economic nature in the approach are influenced by the sociocultural context. The present study employed a non-monetary method adapted from the literature to evaluate the demands and provisions associated with the ecosystem services (provision, regulation, support and cultural) provided by the wetlands ecosystems of the Sorocaba municipality (São Paulo State, Brazil). Through interviews with environmental managers and doctors in the environmental field residents in the municipality, a matrix was elaborated. The results showed that some ecosystems services have a neutral balance between supply and demand, while others have a negative balance. We concluded that the method used is useful for the ecosystem services evaluation, the Sorocaba's wetland ecosystems have a good provision capacity and management measures are necessary to preserve their integrity.
