Abstract: In this paper, we report on our analysis using Hubble Space Telescope astrometry and Keck-I HIRES spectroscopy of the central six stars of Tycho's supernova remnant (SN 1572). With these data, we measured the proper motions, radial velocities, rotational velocities, and chemical abundances of these objects. Regarding the chemical abundances, we do not confirm the unusually high [Ni/Fe] ratio previously reported for Tycho-G. Rather, we find that for all metrics in all stars, none exhibit the characteristics exp… Show more

“…A very “popular” object for the search of the former companion is Tycho’s SN, but even for this close remnant of a relatively recent event (AD 1572) all claimed detections were disproved, see, e.g., [355]. For another galactic SN Ia candidate — Kepler SN (AD 1604), the possible candidates with L > L ⊙ are excluded [354].…”

“…Many methods have been used to constrain these various SN progenitor models, including (but far from limited to) direct imaging of the explosion sites either before or long after the SN explosion (e.g., Maoz & Mannucci 2008;Li et al 2011b;Graur et al 2014aGraur et al , 2016aKelly et al 2014), multiwavelength follow-up observations (e.g., Horesh et al 2012;Milisavljevic et al 2013;Margutti et al 2014;Chomiuk et al 2016), and analyses of SN remnants (e.g., Ruiz-Lapuente et al 2004;Schaefer & Pagnotta 2012;Kerzendorf et al 2013;Bedin et al 2014).…”
