A first comparison of Cosmo-SkyMed and TerraSAR-X data over Chamonix Mont-Blanc test-site

Abstract: A first comparison of Cosmo-Skymed and TerraSAR-X data over Chamonix Mont-Blanc test-site. ABSTRACTThis paper presents the first results obtained with satellite image time series (SITS) acquired by Cosmo-SkyMed (CSK) over the Chamonix Mont-Blanc test-site. A CSK SITS made of 39 images is merged with a TerraSAR-X SITS made of 26 images by using the orbital information and co-registration tools developed in the EFIDIR project. The results are illustrated by the computation of speckle-free images by temporal aver… Show more

“…This time series is composed of 26 single-look images of size 512 2 (azimuth resolution: 2 m, range resolution: 1 m) coregistered using the method provided in [52] based on the fine knowledge of the sensors parameters provided by TerraSAR-X. Thirteen of these images have been sensed in 2009, and 13 in 2011.…”

“…After forming the ratio image between the noisy image and the "super-image", the proposed method takes advantage of the state-of-the-art single-image speckle reduction methods to denoise the ratio image [1]. We consider multi-temporal images acquired on the same orbit (i.e., either all ascending orbits, or all descending orbits), with similar incidence angles, and which have been accurately registered [27]. For the sake of reproducible research, we have released an open-source code at https://www.math.u-bordeaux.…”

“…Here, the consistency between the stripmap products of both missions is verified, but also the significant differences between the CSK and TSX polarization options is demonstrated. An image time series (ITS) based comparative analysis for glacier displacement using interferometry is carried out in [5]. Another comparative analysis of CSK and TSX satellite images in interferometric applications for monitoring of man-made structures at lagoon inlets is carried out in [6].…”
