“…Our results differ from Silverberg et al [17] findings, in which the response was 61% for head/neck regions and 47% for the trunk and/or extremities, as this study was performed upon children by 0.1% tacrolimus. Our results have also differed from Lepe et al [18] . They found tacrolimus produces over 75% repigmentation, mostly on facial areas.…”

“…In our meta-analysis, we found that tacrolimus achieved excellent improvement regarding re-pigmentation in 29% of patients and moderate improvement in 26% of patients. Our results were similar to Lepe et al [ 20 ] which a quarter of patients had an excellent improvement and one-fifth had moderate improvement. The prospective cohort study of Kenwar et al [ 12 ] indicated that 60% of patients had an excellent improvement regarding re-pigmentation.…”

“…The finding of tacrolimus‐induced repigmentation in a subset of patients with NSV, in our study, agreed with the results of previous RCTs whether they used tacrolimus at the same concentration of 0.03%, 16,17 or higher concentration of 0.1% 10,11,14,18,19 . Positive response to tacrolimus monotherapy in a proportion of patients with NSV also agreed with the findings of previous RCTs whether the study population had similar age groups (i.e., older than 2 years old), 16 or included patients above 12 years old, 15 children 18 years or less, 10,11,19 or were restricted to adults 14,18 . On the other hand, the repigmentation rate was unsatisfactory in a previous RCT that used topical tacrolimus 0.1% in treatment of vitiligo 12 .…”
