A discussion on D and E region winds over Europe - The measurement of ionospheric drifts over east Siberia, U.S.S.R

Abstract: The results of an investigation of horizontal ionospheric drifts over Irkutsk (52° N, 104° E) by the closely spaced receiver method (D 1) are presented for 1958—9. The nature of diurnal, seasonal and solar-cycle variations of ionospheric drift patterns are discussed. The measurement of ionospheric drifts was carried out during 1968—9 by the D1 method (2.2 MHz) operating simultaneously at vertical and slightly oblique incidence. The results of this experiment are discussed too.
