A Control Strategy for Hybrid Power Filter to Compensate Four-Wires Three-Phase Systems

Abstract: A control algorithm is proposed for a three-phase hybrid power filter constituted by a series active filter and a shunt passive filter. The control strategy is based on the dual formulation of the compensation system principles. It is applied by considering a balanced and resistive load as ideal load, so that the voltage waveform injected by the active filter is able to compensate the reactive power, to eliminate harmonics of the load current and to balance asymmetrical loads. This strategy improves the passiv… Show more

“…In this paper, four different filter topologies to eliminate harmonic have been used and compared. [10][11][12]. Each topology has been used to compensate harmonics generated by a HVS load, a HCS load and a load that presents an intermediate behavior between both.…”

“…The intensive use of power electronic loads such as rectifiers, variable speed drives (VSD), uninterrupted power supply (UPS) etc. [5][6][7]. In this paper, a comparison between two types of shunt active power filters control strategies, Instantaneous real and reactive power theory ( p q − theory), and p q i i − theory methods are presented for the extraction of the reference current connected to three-phase three wire source that supplies a non-linear load.…”

“…Usually, when a passive LC (Inductor and Capacitor) power filter isconnected in parallel with the load, of parallel or series resonances because of which the passive filter cannot provide a complete solution it is used to eliminate current harmonics. This compensation equipment has some defects mainly related to the appearance [1]. For eliminating harmonic pollution in power systems, the active power filter (APF) is a very suitable tool.…”
