This paper provides an overview of the current practices and future directions in environmental stewardship within the oil and gas industry, focusing on key areas of concern and strategies for improvement. The oil and gas industry has made significant strides in environmental stewardship in recent years, driven by a combination of regulatory requirements, corporate initiatives, and stakeholder pressure. One of the primary areas of focus has been the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions associated with extraction, refining, and transportation processes. Companies have implemented technologies such as carbon capture and storage to minimize their carbon footprint, alongside investments in renewable energy sources and energy efficiency measures to transition towards cleaner energy alternatives. Furthermore, the industry has placed increasing emphasis on the responsible management of water resources, recognizing the potential environmental impacts of water extraction and usage in oil and gas operations. Strategies for water recycling, reuse, and wastewater treatment have been adopted to mitigate pollution and minimize strain on local ecosystems. Biodiversity conservation has also emerged as a critical aspect of environmental stewardship in the oil and gas sector, with companies undertaking environmental impact assessments and collaborating with conservation organizations to minimize habitat disruption and restore ecosystems affected by their operations. Community engagement and social responsibility are integral components of environmental stewardship, with companies seeking to address the social impacts of their operations through employment opportunities, infrastructure development, and social programs benefiting local communities. However, the industry continues to face challenges and limitations in its efforts to minimize environmental impact. Accidental spills, leaks, and other incidents pose significant ecological risks, highlighting the importance of stringent safety regulations and emergency response protocols. Moreover, the transition to renewable energy presents challenges for traditional oil and gas companies, requiring substantial capital investment and strategic planning. To address these challenges and advance environmental stewardship, several future directions are proposed. These include accelerating the transition to renewable energy, enhancing transparency and accountability in reporting environmental performance, strengthening environmental regulations and enforcement, investing in research and development of innovative technologies, and fostering collaboration among industry stakeholders, governments, NGOs, and local communities. The object of research is the process of bending sheet material, taking into account its springiness. When manufacturing sheet parts by bending from a completely elastic sheet, its shape is completely restored after the deformation stops, unlike an elastic sheet. Thus, when producing cylindrical parts by drawing between three rolls, the resulting radius of the cylindrical part will be larger than the calculated one. This phenomenon is evaluated by the coefficient of springing – the ratio of the calculated radius to the one obtained after partial expansion. When manufacturing conical parts, this approach cannot be applied, because the value of the radius is variable. The article applies the theory of surface bending from differential geometry. The curvature of the line on the surface has two components - normal and geodesic. When the surface is bent, the normal component changes, while the geodesic component remains unchanged. The magnitude of the normal component depends on the angle between the origin of the cone and its axis. So, for a cone with a base of radius R and an angle of 20°, the normal curvature is 0.94/R, and the geodesic curvature is 0.34/R. For cylindrical parts, the geodesic curvature of the cross-section (circle) is zero, so it is not necessary to take it into account. Usually, adjustment of rolls for the production of conical parts is carried out experimentally. The difference of the proposed approach lies in the elimination of this problem thanks to the decomposition of the curvature of the base of the cone into two components. This allows to calculate the settings of the rolls and thereby reduce their adjustment time. The parameters of the rolls and their mutual placement are calculated for the production of conical parts of the required size, taking into account their springiness. The influence of various process parameters on the deep drawing process is a current research topic in sheet metal forming technology. Starting from the application of the previously constructed original testing device, an original tribological model was developed based on the process of sheet metal strip sliding between flat contact surfaces under variable pressures. A complex experiment was executed using an Al alloy sheet, tool contact surfaces of different roughness, two types of lubricants and variable contact pressures. The procedure included analytically pre-defined contact pressure functions based on which, for each of the mentioned conditions, the dependencies of the drawing forces and friction coefficients were obtained. The pressure in function P1 constantly decreased from a high initial value until the minimum, while in function P3 the pressure increased until the minimum value at the halfway point of the stroke, after which it increased up to the initial value. On the other hand, the pressure in function P2 constantly increased from the initial minimum value until the maximum value, while in function P4 the pressure increased until reaching the maximum value at the halfway point of the stroke, after which it decreased to the minimum value. This enabled the determination of the influence of tribological factors on the process parameters of intensity of traction (deformation force) and coefficient of friction. The pressure functions starting with decreasing trends produced higher values for the traction forces and the friction coefficient. In addition, it was established that the roughness of the contact surfaces of the tool, especially those with titanium nitride coating, has a significant influence on the process parameters. For surfaces of lower roughness (polished), a tendency of the Al thin sheet to form a glued-on layer was noticed. This was especially prominent for lubrication with MoS2-based grease under conditions of high contact pressure (functions P1 and P4 at the beginning of the contact).
