A Cloud-Based Digital Farm Management System for Vegetable Production Process Management and Quality Traceability

Abstract: Farm Management Information Systems (FMISs) are being expanded to improve operation efficiency, reduce inputs, and ensure compliance with standards and regulations. However, this goal is difficult to attain in the vegetable sector, where data acquisition is time-consuming and data at different stages is fragmented by the potential diversity of crops and multiple batches cultivated at any given farm. This applies, in particular, to farms in China, which have small areas and low degrees of mechanization. This st… Show more

“…Similarly, in the tea sector of Assam, India, the advent of technology like sprinklers irrigation, planting machine, pruning machine, plucking machines and various postharvest processing techniques have revolutionised the sector [69]. The digital farm management system (DFMS) in China, apart from the management of crops, also involves the management of inputs, inventory and quality [70]. According to Yang et al [70], DFMS does financial management, profitability analysis, streamline processes, improve accessibility and handle broad data efficiently.…”

“…Data collected from these smart sensors has lead to smart production by reducing excess usage of fertilizers, water in the farm as presented by Sabiha and Rahman [11]. A cloud based framework was proposed by Yang et al [12] where large data collected from the sensors in the farm can be stored in the cloud for faster computation which helps in uniformed decisions.…”
