A Blockchain and Gamification Approach for Smart Parking

Abstract: City parking is increasingly complex and available parking spaces are scarce. Being able to identify a space to park their cars can lead many drivers to drive around the intended parking area several times, increasing traffic density and pollution. In this research, we propose a collaborative blockchain solution with gamification for parking. Users collaborate to report free spaces and receive free parking minutes for their service to the community. In parallel, this approach can be used to collect beacon info… Show more

“…(4) using an intelligent transport system (ITS) for parking, load/unloading areas would be interesting in the HIC region, by providing real-time information for tracking trucks, vehicle detection, parking space monitoring, and parking assignment (Sayarshad et al, 2020), and to understand the changing travel patterns (weekly variation, seasonal variation, and yearly variation for the type of products (Venkadavarahan and Marisamynathan, 2021). An example of ITS would be to use blockchain technology for managing parking, load and unloading areas (Ferreira, 2018;Al Amiri et al, 2019;Ahmed et al, 2019) in the HIC region, by promoting rational use of parking areas and security for using information by all stakeholders (SCAMBO, 2021). In this case, this system would bring a series of socioeconomic and environmental benefits for heavy traffic regions and lead to having a positive impact on the local community.…”

“…Reference [11], describes that A vehicular system's physical asset, control, synchronization, and accumulation of a vehicular system are research challenges. Ferreira et al [12], is of the view that the blockchain procedure aims at keeping away from costs (speculation and upkeep) and depends on a community-oriented way to deal with and recognize if parking spots are occupied, alongside gamification.…”
