78Gy with Fiducial Marker Image‐Guided Radiotherapy in Prostate Cancer: Single Center Analysis of 301 Patients

Abstract: Dose escalation to 78Gy with FMIGRT in our series achieved good FFBF at 5 years with low acute and late toxicity rates. These results provide a good comparator cohort to our current use of image-guided intensity modulated radiotherapy.

“…Other Australian series which have used higher doses have shown similar results at the 5‐year mark. Choong et al . reported on a cohort of 301 Australian patients treated with doses of 78 Gy with fiducial marker image‐guided radiotherapy and found a 4‐year freedom from biochemical failure rate of 88.8%.…”

“…The use of different fiducials with portal imaging or CBCT is well established in clinical routine [1,11]. However, the combination of MRI planning and the use of GMs in regard to visibility on MRI [12,13], distortion of MRI data by artifacts [14] and anisotropic deformation of MRI-sequences [15] with underestimated prostatic volumes (target miss) are currently under investigation.…”

“…Acute GU toxicity of Grade 1 was observed in 62% and Grade 2 in 21% and GI toxicity in 29% and 11% respectively. Whereas Grade 3 was described in 1% of treated individuals [ 13 ].…”
