5G Wireless Networks in the Future Renewable Energy Systems

Abstract: This paper focuses on the strategies that employ the fifth generation (5G) wireless networks in the optimal management of demand-side response in the future energy systems with the high penetration of renewable energy sources (RES). It also provides a comparison between advantages and challenges of 5G networks in demand-response renewable energy grids. Large-scale renewable energy integration always leads to a mismatch between generation and load demand in the short run due to the intermittency. It is often en… Show more

“…For example, the implementation of IoT based on the smart inverters can be achieved such as a solar-charged inverter that employs WiFi technology to engage in two-way communication with the user, informing the user of both the battery voltage of the inverter and run time of the loads which the user chooses to run. The deployment of advanced wireless networks in SDN would allow faster data transmission and processing [55]. 5G communication technology might become the future road of sustainable energy systems paving to state-of-the-art technologies and networks.…”

“…5G communication technology might become the future road of sustainable energy systems paving to state-of-the-art technologies and networks. In [55], 5G was employed to optimize demand-side response management in integrated energy systems. Combining the 5G and measurement equipment, such as PMU and AMI, can enhance the distribution network O&M [56].…”

“…The growth of technology and interpersonal communication has led to a faster growth in this area of tourism (Strielkowski, Kasl Kollmannová, 2014;Mitsche, Strielkowski, 2016;Tussyadiah, 2020). This phenomenon can be seen as a contributing factor, but information and publicity contribute significantly to this objective (Korneeva et al, 2021), so do the new technologies, such as, for example, 5G networks (Strielkowski et al, 2021b). This will attract more tourists who want to see and enjoy new and interesting places in the region.…”

“…Currently, digital technologies find a wide use on the energy market both on the energy supply and demand side. Sustained progress on energy efficiency will keep the growth of aggregate energy demand for data center networks in check over the next years [1][2][3]. Predictions that digital technologies such as smart meters, smart lighting, and thermostats in commercial buildings will considerably reduce energy consumption are based on a limited rebound effect on consumer energy demand [4,5].…”
