“…The presence of “ a ” reveals that interchange of Si−CH 3 and Si−Cl, by a similar process described in Scheme , occurred when Al was used as the anode. Additionally, a trace amount of oligosilane structure “ e ” (−39 to −41 ppm), which originated from the tacticity of the silicon chain, was observed. The formation of silicon−silicon bonds suggests that silyl anion can also be formed during electropolymerization.…”

“…Figure 1 shows the 29 Si NMR spectrum of the polymer. In addition to the peak at 8 ppm arising from SiOMe groups,27 there is the characteristic triplet feature around −40 ppm associated with the silicon chain and peaks at −7 ppm and 15 ppm indicative of residual SiBr and SiCl groups, respectively, the latter of which displayed a clearly defined double peak attributed to the possibility of either meso or racemic placement of methylphenylsilane chain‐end units relative to the penultimate unit in the chain 27. It was considered that the remaining SiX chain‐ends were being protected from reaction with methanol by the precipitated PMPS mass.…”
