“…Similarly, reported mortality (range, 0.2-0.4%) (9,18) and reoperation rates (range, 2.1-6.0%) (18,24,25) (26)(27)(28)(29)(30). Spleen preserving LDP has been described to be safe and feasible (10,22) and has been reported in 18.2% (16) to 60.4% (31) of LDPs.…”

“…In previous studies, BMI, [6,7,10] thickness, [7,8] and texture [8,11] have been identified as risk factors for POPF after DP. Various efforts to reduce the POPF rate have been attempted, including perioperative treatment with octreotide analog, pasireotide, [12] polyethylene glycolic acid mesh, [13] topical absorbable fibrin sealant patch, [14] pancreaticojejunostomy, [15] falciform ligament patch, [16] prolonged prefiring compression, [17] and seromuscular patch. [18] The method of pancreas stump closure is a major factor in preventing POPF.…”

“…Montorsi et al have reported the incidence of pancreatic fistula was not significantly different between groups (with TachoSil group; 62% vs. without TachoSil group; 68%, P=0.267) in a multicenter, randomized, controlled trial (34). Park et al also examined a similar prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled study (35). In this RCT, the incidence of clinically relevant postoperative complications (grade B and C, ISGPF) (with TachoSil group; 22.9% vs. without TachoSil group; 28.3%, P=0.536).…”

“…However, appropriate procedure to transect the pancreas during DP remains still controversial. Table 3 summarizes RCTs regarding procedure to prevent pancreatic fistula after DP (31)(32)(33)(34)(35)(36).…”
