RESUMOJatobá (Hymenaea courbaril L.) é uma espécie pertencente à família Fabaceae, muito utilizada na construção civil e na moveleira. Apesar disso, é uma espécie com escassez de estudo na área de produção de mudas, principalmente visando atender às demandas comerciais ou ambientais. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o efeito de diferentes doses de esterco bovino no crescimento inicial de mudas de H. courbaril. No experimento foi usado o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro doses de esterco bovino (0, 20%, 30% e 40% de esterco), com 20 repetições por tratamento. Aos 50 dias após o transplantio, avaliou-se os parâmetros: i) altura da muda, ii) diâmetro do caule, iii) razão entre altura da muda e diâmetro do caule, iv) número de folhas, v) massa seca da parte aérea, vi) massa seca da raiz, vii) massa seca total, viii) comprimento da raiz principal e (ix) Índice de Qualidade de Dickson. A adubação orgânica afetou os parâmetros morfológicos avaliados no trabalho. A dose de 30% de esterco conferiu maiores valores para os parâmetros, com exceção do comprimento da raiz principal. As variáveis IQD, H e DC, apresentaram as maiores correlações no estudo, indicando a sua importância como parâmetro de qualidade das mudas. O uso de esterco é recomendado na faixa de 20% a 30% para o melhor crescimento inicial de H. courbaril. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Adubação, Fabaceae; Produção vegetal; Substrato
