Abstract: Two series of amino acids conjugated quinazolinones (1a-h and 2a-h) were synthesized by acid-amine coupling and the structures of all the compounds were confirmed through spectroscopic techniques such as IR, NMR and HRMS. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Biological evaluation study revealed that, the compounds 1f, 2f, 2g and 1g showed good antioxidant activity with 50% of the inhibition concentration (IC50) values 35, 20, 30 and 40 … Show more

“…Vani et al [76] synthesized a series of quinazolin-4(3H)-one-triazole hybrids (63-65) quinazolin-4(3H)-one and oxadiazole hybrids (66)(67)(68). Compounds 64-67 showed significant antibacterial activity against all the bacterial strains, Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis) and Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa), while compounds (63,67,68) showed highest activity against fungal species, Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger compared with ciprofloxacin and fluconazole as reference drugs, respectively. “…2.2.2 Anti-inflammatory activity. D. C. Gowda et al 45 reported the synthesis and in vitro antimicrobial and antiinflammatory activities of two series of novel quinazolinone (QZN 1 and QZN 2) conjugated amino acid analogues. Among these two class of conjugates, the phenylalanine (IC 50 values are 52 and 44 μg mL −1 ) and tryptophan (IC 50 values are 40 and 38 μg mL −1 ) conjugated quinazolinones displayed good anti-inflammatory activity.…”

“…Therefore, new compounds with potential biological activity are being sought all the time. Quinazolinone and its derivatives have been extensively studied because of their wide range of biological activities, including antiviral [ 6 ], anticancer [ 7 , 8 ], antifungal [ 9 ], antibacterial [ 10 , 11 ], antitubercular [ 12 , 13 ], anti-inflammatory [ 11 , 14 ], anticonvulsant [ 15 ], hypolipidemic [ 16 ], analgesic [ 17 ], or immunotropic properties [ 18 ].…”
