Highly sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of vanadium in environmental, biological, food and soil samples using orthoaminophenol

Abstract: A simple, ultra-sensitive and highly selective non-extractive spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amount of vanadium(V) using orthoamino phenol (OAP) has been developed. OAP reacts in highly acidic (0.005-0.015 mol/L H2SO4) and aqueous media with vanadium(V) to give a chocolate color chelate which has an absorption maximum at 405 nm. The reaction was instantaneous and absorbance remains stable for over 72 h. The average molar absorption co-efficient and Sandell's sensitivity were found to … Show more

“…Therefore, this method will be successfully applied to the routine monitoring of trace and ultra-trace amounts of selenium in real, environmental, biological, soil, food and pharmaceutical samples. It is a new method needs neither heating nor extraction to organic phase, works satisfactorily and could be an alternative method for the rapid determination of selenium in a wide variety of sample solutions and found superior to spectrophotometric methods described in different literature [73][74][75][76][77][78][79][80][81][82].…”

“…A new simple, sensitive, and inexpensive method based on vanadium-Sal-BH complex was developed for the determination of vanadium in some environmental, biological, soil, food, and pharmaceutical samples. Compared with other methods [16][17][18][19][20]41,42] in the literature Table 1, the proposed method has several remarkable analytical characteristics:…”

“…Especially, inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS) involve much complex operating condition. One the other hand, spectrophotometric analysis is for a routine check of a metal that is very simple and quick [10,11]. It is also very accurate and assesses metal concentration in a versatile amount of sample in a quick manner [12].…”
