Simultaneous determination of Simvastatin and Sitagliptin in tablets by new univariate spectrophotometric and multivariate factor based methods

Abstract: KEYWORDSFive simple, sensitive and precise spectrophotometric and chemometric methods were used for simultaneous determination of Simvastatin (SM) and Sitagliptin (SIT) in their pure powdered forms and in the tablets. The proposed methods are the extended ratio subtraction method (EXRSM), ratio difference method (RDSM), mean centering of ratio spectra method (MCR) and chemometric methods, namely principal component regression (PCR) and partial least squares (PLS). In EXRSM; SM was determined at 237.5 nm, while… Show more

“…The main task of this work is to establish precise, simple, sensitive and accurate spectrophotometric analytical methods for simultaneous determination of IBU and FAM in their bulk powders and pharmaceutical dosage form with satisfactory precision and accuracy [17]. As well, to construct a statistical comparison between the ability of the proposed methods to determine both drugs in their pure form, laboratory prepared mixture and in their pharmaceutical formulations.…”

“…2021 -European Journal of Chemistry -CC BY NC -DOI: 10.5155/eurjchem.12.4.368-376.2144 For both PLS-2 and PCR, the concentration residuals were plotted against the actual concentrations of the prepared mixtures (Figures 7 and 8), and the residuals for all samples were found to be randomly distributed around zero [25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33]. The average recoveries of each drug using PLS-2 and PCR methods are summarized in Table 2.…”

“…The validation set is composed of 5 laboratory-prepared mixtures containing different proportions of AMP, SQX, and DVD (Table 1). In addition, the concentrations of AMP, SQX, and DVD in the veterinary formulation extract were calculated using the optimized PLS-2 or PCR calibration model after being recorded in the same specified lambda range [25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33].…”

“…For examples, atorvastatin mainly used with glimepiride and metformin while simvastatin used with sitagliptin. [3][4][5] Some hypoglycemic drugs (e.g. glibenclamide) when taken with statins have the potential to increase the maximum plasma concentration (C max ) and the area under the curve (AUC) by up to 20%.…”
