Granular fertilizer caking: A research on the performance evaluation of coating agents

Abstract: Caking formation in fertilizer products during handling and storage is a frequently encountered problem. Caked fertilizers become together as lumps, lose their free- flowing properties, and create inefficient applications. Several parameters such as relative humidity and temperature of the environment, pressure by pile height, and physicochemical properties of fertilizer product such as moisture content, presence of fines and chemical composition, etc. cause or accelerate caking mechanism. Internal or external… Show more

“…The nitrogen content in the products was determined using a catalyst for converting nitrogen in urea to ammonia by heating in a sulfuric acid solution, followed by distillation and absorption of ammonia in an excess of a standard sulfuric acid solution and back titration with sodium hydroxide solution in the presence of an indicator [9]. SO 3 2 -ion by weight -precipitation in the form of barium sulfate , hygroscopic points of the feedstock and finished fertilizers were determined at 25 °C by the desiccator method, the traceability of fertilizers was determined by the method [17][18]. Briquetting conditions: compression pressure of the sample with a load of 2,8 kg, temperature -40 °C; the duration of stay of the cylindrical cassette in the mold is 8 hours.…”
