“…We continue to perform systematic video recordings as well as clinical assessments of newly treated children. The ABCS fulfills some essential requirements of a “naturalistic method of assessment” (Godoy et al, 2022) and has great face validity. In view of the overall encouraging findings with the method our group is now looking into the possibility of applying artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, that is, ways of “teaching a machine” the rules of ABCS scoring.…”

“…Another limitation of most existing measures is that they show sensitivity to change only for longer‐term interventions, that is, therapeutic efforts lasting 1 year or longer. Regarding the suitability of the ADOS‐2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Lord et al, 2012; German version: Poustka et al, 2015) as an outcome measure in early intervention studies, several aspects need to be considered: on the one hand, the ADOS Calibrated Severity Scores (CSS) provide standardization and allow comparison across different ADOS modules and thus between children with different levels of ASD severity; on the other hand, the ADOS was developed for diagnostic purposes and there are doubts whether it is sufficiently sensitive to capture small, but relevant behavioral changes (Godoy et al, 2022; McConachie et al, 2015). Efforts have been made to increase the sensitivity of the ADOS for small changes in social communication.…”

“…Neurodevelopmental disorders are highly heterogeneous in terms of their epidemiology 21 , clinical characteristics, causes 22 , burden, treatment responses and tolerability 23,24 , and outcomes 25 . Notably, ODD and CD are often comorbid with neurodevelop mental disorders, in particular ADHD 26 .…”
