Abstract: The leaf extract of Annona squamosa L. has antibacterial, antidiabetic, antioxidant, and anticancerous activities. The present work aims to compare between liposomes and niosomes as carriers for A. squamosa extract to improve its transdermal bioavailability. Physical characterization for niosomes and liposomes was performed using: transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). In addition, the encapsulation efficiency for A. squamo… Show more

“…Antioxidants are any substances that can directly scavenge ROS or indirectly act to enhance antioxidant defenses or inhibit ROS output. [11][12][13] They are produced to counteract oxidative stress generated by the presence of excess ROS. 14 Also, antioxidants are distinguished by their ability through intramolecular hydrogen bonding to further oxidize to form a more stable radical.…”

“…The produced multilamellar niosomes were sonicated for 5 min, resulting in the formation of tiny vesicles. Finally, a high-speed (10000 rpm × 30 min) cooling centrifuge (VS-18000M, Korea, 220 V/50 Hz) was used, and niosomes were precipitated in PBS [36,37].…”

“…The dialysis manner was used to find in vitro release for free and encapsulated GA in PBS (pH 7.4). 40 Two milliliters of niosomes-encapsulated GA were introduced in a dialysis bag of cellulose acetate and sunken in PBS (100 mL) with stirring magnetically at 60 rpm. One milliliter was possessed at fixed time periods (every 1 h) of the immersed solution, replacing it with an equal volume of freshly prepared PBS.…”
